Brought together to celebrate the anniversary of his birth this is the first time the poems of John Angus have been available since they appeared in ‘A Glen Anthology’ - now long out of print.  

Edited  by  his  son Niall, it  includes  his  much  loved  poem

‘Genesis’ written about his beloved Glenesk, and ‘Auld Donald’s Prayer’ as well as less well-known ones such as ‘The Peesies’ and ‘A Cailleach’.

The collection is copiously  illustrated throughout  with colour

plates of favourite views of  Glenesk taken by accomplished

photographer David Elder - as well as some black and white images taken by John Angus himself.

It is to be hoped that his  poems will now find a whole new audience in addition to those who remember him with great affection as a member of the group of now legendary Angus Poets who had their roots in the Scottish Literary Renaissance.

Taken as a whole ‘Glenesk’ makes an ideal memento of the

area which will be of interest to visitors and local people

alike.
